Day 3:
Today was about Hard-drives/Soft-drives in a computer. It is very cool to learn how the thing you use every day actually works instead of just brushing it off as "The magic of technology." Sadly I know many people who don't care about how things work. That is what I find is missing in this time; we lack the craving to find out how the world moves. I personally am a geek about how things function. May it be from a simple watch to a type writer to a computer I enjoy being able to feel the different parts of a machine. I need to understand things instead of just brushing them off as something that helps me though out the day. This craving may come from me being dyslexic and/or being very creative. The more I understand stuff the more I can use to create new stuff.
One thing that I find hard in class is where things are located. I try to fallow along on where and how I should turn in a project or where I need to download X but this all may just come from lack of experience. I am still trying to get used to everything. Silly me. I try to take notes on what I need to do or what I have questions about but I'm not very good at that ether. Some how though I seem to be able to get thorough classes with an A. I just hope I will continue to have this luck.
There was some assigned reading that I found quite disturbing. There was an article about how the internet can be censored in different parts of the world. North Korea for instance does not even let their people on the internet but China has found a strange way to give their people a sense of freedom without giving it to them truly. This is done by having the searches all though out China "filtered" through other computers before reaching the one who was searching the web. You may say that this is good because porn won't pop up. That is true but once the filtering is started it won't stop. They can filter the news that is posted all over the world giving their people a false sense of reality. This is wrong. If this happened in America we would be opening our gun cabins and protesting for this to end. That is because it goes against our rights as Americans. It is our freedom to speak and the internet is just another way to share our ideas. Be proud to be able to speak freely and don't let others silence you. This is a right that all humans, no mater race, gender or where they live should be able to do.
